International Francophonie Day marked at “Nicolae Testemitanu” University

Hygiene Discipline, Department of Preventive Medicine (DPM), together with the Department of External Relations and European Integration of Nicolae Testemitanu State University of Medicine and Pharmacy celebrated the richness of the French language and the diversity of French culture around the world by organizing the conference Education for Health: medical and hygienic aspects. The event took place on March 23 on the occasion of the International Francophonie Day 2022, which facilitates cultural exchange between states and generates mutual enrichment.
The conference was opened by Veronica Ichim, Deputy Head of the Department of External Relations and European Integration, in charge of the Francophone University branch, who mentioned that the purpose of the event was to inform the audience about the formation and development of a correct hygiene concept and good behaviors for maintaining healthy choices across the lifespan.
Daniela Petrov, in charge of projects and communication at the National Bureau of the Francophone University Agency (AUF), Moldova, also greeted and congratulated the French-speaking medical students, thanking them for the useful and valuable information provided to the general public.
The conference was attended by second-year students of the Francophone University branch in Medicine, supported by French-speaking teachers. The students’ presentations included aspects of individual and collective hygiene, diet, work and leisure program, rational use of free time, reduction and avoidance of health risk factors, etc.
“Education for health resides in developing the level of health culture of different population groups, as well as the educational means and procedures necessary for the formation of healthy behaviors. Maintaining health and fighting diseases are among the oldest concerns of man”, specified Elena Ciobanu, Associate Professor at Hygiene Discipline, DPM.
International Francophonie Day is celebrated annually on March 20 under the auspices of the International Francophonie Organization, and is dedicated to the 300 million French speakers in the world. In 2022, the theme of the event is “Francophonie of the future”, being emphasized the support given by Francophonie to youth and their aspirations, especially in the fields of entrepreneurship, digital technology and sustainable development.
